Good morning All!

I'm new to this forum, but have been a member of a few others for quite some time now. Being from Madoc, I decided that joining the forum focused on local fisheries would likely be beneficial :P

That being said, I was looking for a bit of help in terms of what to expect from the Moira this time of year. Although I have lived in Madoc for all of my 24 years, I have never tried fishing the Moira river in Belleville. Now that I have taken up fly fishing for the last 3 years, I decided that this may be a great place, close to home, to wet a line for some species variety.

I'm planning to get out on the Moira this weekend, and was wondering if anyone could pass along which species I am likely to get into this time of year?

Thanks for your help, and tight lines!

Cody

Hit the #1 dam in Belleville near the beer store. I used to fly fish there this time of year with blue/silver streamers. You can catch rainbows there. fly fish down from the dam where the main channel meets. There is a trough there about 20 ' wide where it gets a little deeper. Rainbows will hold in there.

Normally you can get a mess of small mouth bass in the river north of this dam, i don't think you will get any thing other than rainbows and maybe a salmon if they haven't all died off. I was out there 3 weeks ago and there were ALOT of salmon, more than i have seen in the Moira in years.

Be VERY careful if the bank is icy, i don't think i would like to go for a swim in there this time of year.

good luck !
