if you want good gar action go further up the river towards the first dam, gar like it shallow, like 1 - 2' and they love it hot!!!! if it's a scorcher outside the gar will be fun to play with. as for bass, they are all up the whole river, even some nice ones around riverside park, get in to the ends of dam currents and fish the pools as well. but as far as the riffles are concerned I've been getting alot of chub. where abouts did you catch that northern???? I'm still looking to fight one with my 8weight. I tied a handful of clousers and i'm looking for some pike or walleye to cast for.

I think I found your 4lb bass!! was twitching a big deer hair frog on the end of my fly line for about 10 minutes and the water exploded like a depth charge, what a fight!! I think my fly line has a longer taper on it now. had a good morning, was landing fish on every fly flick, even alot of 1' chub that were really fun. I found a spot where if you stand really still for a long time, some big bass will rest next to you and even swim by brushing against your waders. as for the gar though, I've only seen 5 of them today, they were very wary and seemed rather offended to me being there, wanted nothing to do with biting on anything.
