I haven't been into the back lakes trout fishing for quite a few years now and figured it was about time. I called up a friend I haven't seen in years who I used to go wiith before and we hiked an hour into a back lake on Saturday in hopes of finding some brook trout. We set up in the rain and sleet and it didn't take long before we had first little trout. Between snow squalls we were able to move around and ended up catching about 20 altogether. We kept just enough for a nice little snack.
Most were caught in 4-8 FOW. Worm on a jig head and a gold/orange Rapala jigging rap worked well and they were caught between 10:00 and 1:00. It was great getting together again with my friend and getting back into the little trout lakes again.
