Just starting to get my 7 y/o daughter into fishing. I always had fond memories of fishing for bullheads when I was starting out and wanted to treat her to the same. The thing is I'm new to fishing in the area and unsure where to go. I live right in Belleville but do not mind travelling in a 30min radius if it's worth the drive. I've see some posts about Bain Park and Big Bay but if it can be narrowed down a bit more than that it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't been mudcat fishing in a while but I remember people used to be lined all along the cove at West Zwicks park. You use to be able to see the bonfires when going over the bay bridge coming into Belleville. Another spot that use to be good is Potters Creek right across from the Conservation Area, good luck!!

I believe that the moira leading up to the dam by the beer store would have some.I think it was around this time of the year that i have seen hundreds of them at the dam in the pool in front of the dam.I would try just a worm on a hook with a split shot(big enough to hold in current)on bottom would work good. Not sure the regs on fishing that dam tho, you would have to check.

Folks do catch them on the Murray canal, at the bridges (highway 33 Trenton and 64 towards brighton). Both bridges have lovely areas for you and your daughter to fish at, with some parking. You may also catch the odd walley, bass and anything else. Good luck.

You can also try the culvert at Dead Creek Road in Carrying Place. People are always getting them there.

Fond memories myself. Zwicks was always a great spot.
