Received an email with a picture of a nice musky caught in the bay. It was caught in MNR nets as part of their nearshore fish community trap net program on the upper Bay of Quinte. This musky was about 46 inches total length and was released after photo taken. Caught between Belleville and Trenton. I've never caught one in the bay but have seen them caught a couple of times under the bay bridge in belleville in the fall while jigging.

I wonder if the population use to be larger or if they could do anything to increase the population through stocking.

Hi guys,

Back in the 60's and 70's, there was a very healthy population of muskies in the Bay of Quinte. They are still there. Very few guys actually target them out there. I have caught a couple over the years out there but don't normally spend the time on the Bay for Muskies as I would like to.

I seen old pictures with muskies on a stringer from anglers that fished Muskote Bay. Heavy commercial fishing and trapping in the past devastated the fishery.
Today commercial trappers and the Ministry still catch the odd one in their nets.

The river mouths all should have a small population, under the Bay bridge also has some and of course Lake Ontario has world record potential. There is nothing stopping these Lake Ontario fish to swim back up into the bay.

They are there......just a lot of water to target a small population of fish.

Put your time in....hopefully you will get rewarded!
