The weather networks (all of them) predicted winds to 20KPH with gusts to 35kph, so we decided to go fishing. Laker John & I headed out in the darkness and the rain began as we hit Napanee and on to Hay Bay.
The rain stoppped, so we loaded the boat and launched and headed out to look for some fish, and maybe catch something.
We began fishing at 0800 up at Huff's and after a couple passes, headed south down Long Reach, following the Picton Fault.......... Trolled for 1/2 hour at the High Shore marking a lot of baitfish, but no takers.
John wanted to use four rods, so we headed past the ferry into some winds from the SE, made our way to Keiths Shoal and set the four rods to troll downwind. Made it to the ferry with nothing to show, cept we marked a lot of fish in the 80-85 foot depths on the south side of Adolphus Reach.
Powered our way to Hay Bay. marked some fish and after 2.5 passes, we pulled the rods in and headed to shore at 1500 hrs.
The weather had been spectacular, no wind to speak of and it got warm under the survival suit. Guess you can't trust the weatherman, you have to go and see for yourself.
We couldn't attract a bite of any sort. The water temps in Long Reach and Hay Bay were 53 Degs F and the temp in Adolphus Reach was 56 Degs F.
Boats appeared to moving around and looking for fish also.
So we got skunked this time, but wait til next time.
