I met up with Dan this morning at Huff's shortly after 6:30 for my first time on Quinte this season. After paying the $5 for a great parking spot we headed out to 19-22 FOW. There was 6-8" of black ice with a few slushy spots in some of the drifts. Nothing the 4-wheeler couldn't handle though. I started marking almost right away and it didn't take long for a 4.5 lber to hit a chartuese Blue Fox ice jig tipped with a small shiner. A couple more were lost and ended up with a 2.5, 3.5 and a 4.5 lber. Family duties called and I had to be off the ice at 11:00. My boys wanted a fish and chip dinner, so that's what we're having for supper tonight. It was great to see Dan and Bill out there today.

I enjoyed fishing with you guys today. The fish were there but mostly just a quick glance at your bait and move on. A 5 lb eye and a 8 lb pike was all for me. If even half of the fish I marked had hit would of caught a bakers dozen.

Myself and 3 others did the $5 parking at huffs for the afternoon, about 15 vehicles on the ice parked when we got there at 1:30 and maybe 6 in the lot. Thanks to whoever does plow the parking area as it lets you go out fishing confident you won't be ticketed or towed. Set up in 28'-30' straight out and a bit to the left and was fishing by 2pm. Marked a few fish throughout the day but nothing was happening at all for us, and didn't see any put on the ice up till when we finally left at dark, although we were inside a hut. Did see a small plane, about 3:30 or 4:00 buzz the west side of the reach flying south to north, looked to be less then 75' above the ice.
We were using an assortment of jigs, including buckshots and pimples with 1 to 3 minnows on them, and didn't notice much current where we were fishing. We had 7"-8" of good black ice for us, and did hear it building so long range looks great for everyone. We'll give her another shot soon, maybe next weekend.
