Just spoke with a friend who was fishing there yesterday. They walked out from the conservation area heading east. They got out into the channel west and north of the green marker. When they drilled the holes they said ice was 6" but only 2" of it was black ice. On the way back in they came upon a very small pressure crack and when he went to check it the ice gave away right under him. Both were wearing floater suits and after a couple of failed attempts made out of the water. From there they made it back in but also said water was quickly turning everything to boot high slush. They talked with another guy on the wsy back in and were told that a few thers had gone through in the same area. Like what Biff had reported in another post. Heads up in this area its not safe!
