Yeehaw, things are a bit tighter now that a few days have past since the snow. Not the best but very manageable to get out if you stay on the trails. Your best option stay on the trail to you get as close as possible to where you wish to fish, then cut off the trail. If I went directly to the spot I fished by cutting off where I would normally go I would have saved 150 or more meters of walking but it likely would have taken 10 extra minutes of hard slugging.

Anyways back to the fishing, went out at 3:45 and fish until 7:30, gorgeous day out on the ice. 4:00 until 5:45 or so played tag with multiple perch.
5:45 -6:10 screen on Vexilar might as well not been on, not even a mark other then the lure and sometimes it disappeared as well. 6:15 four feet off the bottom something cruised by, thinking pike. 6:25 same thing but then a rapid drop to my bait that was about one foot off the bottom takes bait hard and runs maybe 8-10 feet and drops it. Wind in line to replace stripped minnow and not needed still on the hook and healthy. Dropped the lure and minnow back down at about 4 feet from the bottom another slam a short run and then an on ice retrieval of a 3 pound Mr. Walter Walleye.
6:30 to 7:30 not a mark, packed up and brought home my dinner guest.
