The 1st CLOSA meeting of 2015 will be held on March 18th at 7pm at the CarryingPlace United Church.
20 Old Portage Road, CarryingPlace, On.

Our meetings are open to the general public. Membership not required.

I will do a presentation on using trolling flies for salmon angling.
Many guys have the spoon presentation down pat. Their cutbait programs are good but they miss the target using flasher & trolling flies presentations.
A deadly technique, especially when the bite slows later in the day.

Hands on demonstrations.

1) leader length behind the flasher and line size.
2) flasher distance behind dipsys and rigger weights.
3) colour and types of flies to use in different light conditions. (bright sun versus overcast)
4) boat speed for big blades and small blades
5) the best flasher to use on flasher fly combos. (Spin Doctors vs E-Chips)
6) full flash, semi flash and passive flashers and when to use them.
7) best colour of dipsys to use with flasher fly combos.
8 - Time of day to use these combos.
9) Fly weight variations, single hook versus tandem hooks, number of beads.
Rattles vs E-Chips.
10) Demonstration on snell knots.

There will be a question and answer period during the presentation and afterwards.
Free ATOMMIK Fly giveaways.

Hope to see ya there.
Al

Since I posted the meeting thread I have had a number of PMs on whether the presentation would deal with the use of copper, lead core, and wire line.

I'll add these techniques to the presentation.

Will you be also talking about how to deal with a wire and copper tangle?

Good one Mike.

I didn't deal with that too much. I'll discuss that topic on a later seminar on fishing the big currents around the Scotch Bonnet Ridge shoals.

Hand a few of these tangles but nothing major. Saw a tangle in the back of a buddy's boat once. It was the size of a soccer ball. There was braid, mono, wire and copper in the mess. Hope I never see one like that on my boat. Dam coho create a lot of those messes.

We had great attendance at the meeting and a lot of great questions. Tried answer most to the best of my ability.

Later
Al
