Been a while since I posted a report so thought I'd throw one up.

Had my boat out for its first run of the year. She did real well once some gremlins were dealt with.

We launched at finkles and headed to Amherst. Trolled for an hour and a half without a hit so headed towards big bar. Once we got to 60fow off big bar the action started. We fished spoons off the riggers and one off a board with a tadpole weight and another board with a crank. Trolled at 2-2.4 mph on GPS. Most action was in 40-60 fow with a couple hits taken in tighter to the shoal.

Funky monkey shoehorn and purple nasty boy spoons battled it out all day.

In the end we landed somewhere around 12-14 fish and lost a few more. We had lines set from 1230-5 and all fish camer from 2-5pmPretty fun few hrs out there in the hot sun and zillions of May flies.

Couple pics:

And lastly some of the flies...

What a great fishery we have in our back yards. On to the gold now!

Big Bar Shoal is located south of Amherst Is. Use the link and zoom in south of Amherst Island. The area is labelled.

Love to see anglers wearing their PFD, did you happen to use a copper set up?

Very nice! I don't care what a lot of people think of lakers, they are a lot of fun to catch and it looks like you guys had a lot of fun doing just that.

Agreed adventure, I love catching them. Always good for action and we have some Giants nearby.

Great Pics....Was out near the Gap last night and no takers but some nice marks, by myself in 14 foot so didn't want to venture into the big Lake alone, thanks for the info on the Bar, might give it a go with Always Hopeful sometime.

It was always a great spot for years because the Lakers were always on top and fairly easily able to hook up. Great to see you had a good day.

Hey Jim

I would say that this is the first year that I have personally had my PDF on the whole time I was fishing! With the new styles and light weight I forgot that I even had it on :)
