Rod holders

Hey all

Bought a new boat this summer. 17.5 Lund.
Now I want to put rod holders on it.
Planning on coming Dow this Friday.

I bought a couple of Scotty,s what is the best way to mount them.
Also if income Dow Friday
We're is the best place to stay.
Lunching out of picton.

Is it a fairly new Lund? I thought Lund had their own track system factory installed?

Merland Park has full cottages with boat ramp/docks but I just booked my reservations yesterday for Friday/Saturday and they are almost full.
there is also convenient hotel accommodations at the picton harbour inn directly in view of the picton boat ramp
weather is looking spectacular for a December trip which would explain the accommodations filling up!!

No it is a 1999 boat

I have Scotty's mounted flush beside the 2 front seats, great for the "not fishing" days. Mounts are on the gunnel in the rear and raised. I troll with the rod in the opposite rear holder, easier to set and retrieve boards when the rear seats are removed and easier to see my rod when steering. Enjoy your boat, good fishing.

Well if the budget permits, its hard to beat a track set up, my budget did not permit so I went with the scotty rocket launcher rod holders and a scotty #257 triple mounting system on each side 2/3 of the way back with the mounting bracket attached on the side of the gunnel not the top. I then raised the triple mounting system 8 inches with the scotty #254 rod holder extender, the whole set up is very solid, I have only ran 2 rods in each one so far, but with inline boards and deep diving plugs, they handled it no problem with 2 rods and wouldn't hesitate to put in the 3rd if I had enough people in the boat. Scotty makes a good product and its affordable.

I've got a Lund as well and it has the sportrac system. I use the Lund sportrac base and have screwed the Scotty rod holder into that. No holes or screwing into the boat itself and I can slide them anywhere (front or back) on the boat. I also use 2 Salty rodholders that I can mount onto the back transom. Again no need to drill holes. I hope to get down this weekend as well to give it one last shot as long as the forecast stays looking great ...

Hi, If you have a lund that is less than five or six years old , it is equipped with what appears to be a small channel on the inside of the gunnel; If you have this feature on your boat, lund sells a device that I just love. It is designed for mounting various things to the gunnels. Check with a lund dealer, ask for gunnel mount devices; They mount without any tools required, can be removed easily and stay in place very well. If you have a recent lund boat sales manuel , they should be in there somewhere.
I got some a Bay Marine in Trenton and Some at DT power Sports in Uxbridge.

These units are perfect for mounting the scotty rod holders to..good luck Stan Hoard
