We have a trip booked for next weekend (Jan.28,29&30th)
Will be on Hay Bay, east of Ram Island.
Any thoughts on ice conditions there? would we have any luck in shallow water 6-10' or be better off in 20'

I ended up at Shermans today checking the ice spudding all across the shore about 60 meters out on the edge of piled up ice. I went about 220 meters to the right from the launch and stopped just before the little bay. I did not feel comfortable going further out as I was on a solo trip and no one else was out there. The ice I checked varied it was 2.5" in some spots up to 4" 10ft away, more in the 2.5 range though. The ice is a mess from the blow out last weekend, chunks are randomly sticking up all over the place and the shoreline is covered. ice is a mix of white, grey and black. Deeper in the bay where you are asking about it is most likely much better than Sherman's, I don't think the wind blew out the ice that far in. Spud step spud....

Not much, like everywhere it is scattered, some covered, some open ice. Has anyone been from the Sherman's launch since Wednesday?
