fished yesterday afternoon locally. The ice doesnt have alot of snow left on it mostly patches of hard crusted snow. It was about 5" with the upper 2 "grey and the bottom 3" black. The bite didnt happen for me with one 10"eye and 2 jumbos. Lots of perch/baby eyes around. Suppose to get rain tomorrow and the temp going up to 5 not great conditions and will make the ice tricky and dangerous.

Ya worried all this warm weather might really hurt things...if there was a ton of solid ice we would be fine but there isnt..if we have high nighttime temps aswell..i truly believe we might not get back out till the last couple weeks of february,,i hope not but could very easily happen...at the rate things have been going i would rather have no ice and my boat in the water,,atleast u know what your getting into everyday when leaveing your house

Cold snap, what's that? This winter has sucked in the terms of being cold. An odd day or two here and there, this just doesn't feel like winter and the long term forecasts do not look overly promising!

Ha you guys have short memories. We just had two of the worst winters in the last 30 yrs. we aren't going to have a foot and a half of ice but there will be ice, relax. Might be a year where the spud stays out all year but that's ok, nice reminder that there is no such thing as "safe" ice.

Yeah, I think tomorrow's rains aren't going screw anything other than the really high current areas or the river mouths. Still talking -8 wed. Night and nothing too high above 0 through the weekend.
If you know where to go, if you are experienced on the Bay of Quinte, you will be able to find ice that's safe enough through the rest of the season IMHO.
