The last few weeks have been a bass bonanza on this stretch of the bay for largemouths for me. I try to have one 20" (5lb.) bass every year, and in the last couple of weeks I have been lucky enough to have two over 20". As well as my share of 19" and too many to count in the 18" range. As the temperature has changed, I have moved around the northport area with the fish. Yesterday was a crazy day with numbers in the twenties and although no fish over 19" there were lots of big fat 18" fish. I could see the fish in little packs swimming by me. Yesterday and the last week I have been fishing a main bay point with isolated weeds, fishing in about 2-5 feet deep. Most of my fish have come on a chatterbait and a soft plastic critter bait ( can't tell that one ). I live on the bay and fish almost daily and I think this year with the early high water levels and our prolonged warm water the weed growth is staying green later and growing in new places. Get out there and get them while u can!!
