Is it safe to walk from Bayside to Makatewis Island? How thick is the ice here?

Also wondering if anyone has walked the length of the bay bridge in Belleville? There is walking path under the bridge, but then there is a gap, a island, another gap, then the other side. Is it safe to walk to this small 'island'?

Thanks very much!

I haven't been to the gaps under the bridge in Belleville so I don't know. Both the gaps have current so very likely the ice will vary in thickness. Best to bring an ice spud and spud your way across

How about Makatewis Island? Should it be safe to walk there?

Ice conditions change way too fast so your best bet is Spud your way out. It's Always a better idea to treat the ice as if it's thin than to just start walking and assuming it's good.
