I stopped by a spot this morning after working a night shift just to check it out and see how the water was looking. It was a place i had long suspected of being crappie territory but hadnt caught one since i was a kid. When i got there i saw a huge school of perch minnows maybe 3 inches long being stalked by a 5lb bowfin. The spot is between a small bridge with structure and a small dam. First cast in with a bass pro shops silver tube jig 1.5inch i beleive and i hook into what i thought was a bass at first but nope. 15 inch monster crappie. So ofcourse im gonna stay for half an hour now and within 25 mind i have 6 on a stringer 2 over 15inches. I had to leave as i work again tonight but i will for sure be visiting my secret spot again soon! Ps i released the 2 momsters and kept the "small ones" lol also for tips i guess look for the calmer water below falling water and let your jig hang about 2 feet below surface?
