The 5 New Yorkers made their annual pilgrimage to the famous Bay of Quinte. Looking back at our notes, this was our 25th year. The fishing, of course, is much worse than the earlier years, but this year was better than the last few. Oscar and I were the searchers, and the other boat (Ron, Rod, and Gary) concentrated closer to camp (Cedar Trees Resort). We searched from the East end of Hay Bay to Mohawk Bay, Telegraph Narrows, the big bridge, shoal at Q11, Sherman's Point, Thompson Point, cement factory, Picton, and Glenora. Our only success was a 30" northern at Sherman's point. All of the walleyes were caught at Ram Island, South and West sides. They were all 1 1/2 to 2 pounds - sort of looked to be all from the same year class - all males. 2 on Tues, 9 on Wed, 5 on Thurs, 12 on Fri, skunked on Sat. I did catch one drum Sat, the only one caught. Many gobies and perch were also caught, and saw lots of gobies with the Aqua-Vu. The perch were all 6" and under. Don't they grow up there? Had a great time as usual. The only thing better than Wilton cheese is Wilton cheese with an Ex. Our stay at Cedar Trees was excellent. Paul and Lisa do a great job with their cottages, and the entire resort is very well maintained. We will be back to see them as long as they will let us. A perfect place to stay and very scenic. I have found you Canadians to be the friendliest people I have met ( I don't count Quebec as Canadians here, unfortunately). Already looking forward to our trip next year, starting May 21.
