What’s with people leaving garbage all over the ice this year I’ve been out 7 times this year and every time I’ve been out I’ve picked up tons of timmies cups, beer cans, broken chairs and empty propane bottles. It’s disgusting that these people fish and treat are waters like this, it’s an absolute joke imo it’s so easy to put this stuff in your hut and bring it back home with you. Sorry for the rant but it’s so annoying

Just can't understand how people can have such little regard for nature.

It’s one of the main reasons people won’t grant access on private property

Glade somebody has brought this up and I’ve been seeing it also when I was at Sherman’s on Monday I come across bunch of plastic from newly bought fishing tackle out on the ice and at the chruch saw a plastic bag full of cardboard siting at launch and coffee cups but the biggest thing I am seeing this year is cigarette buts all over the ice like what to **** my fellow anglers are you doing I am smoker to go to the dollar store and get yourself ashtray with the lid on it we all know how many chemicals are in cigarettes I am only a ice fisherman it’s my biggest passion so I only fish 2months out of the year so i can’t imagine how much garbage and cigarette butts are going in quinte in open water season wake up guys it’s are to protect

This is not a new problem, search Point Anne Launch as an example for last year. I think you may see it more this year due to the limited ice surface so far for this year. Just as bad during the summer the only difference is that a lot of the crap sinks.

I live on the south shore of the bay at Northport and the predominant wind blows everything onto my shore constantly, but the spring is the worst! In the fall I get the casings from shotgun shells, but they at least float. U think I would get some lost lures etc, no, but I do get all the empty packages. I do get a lot of senko type baits though, I can just imagine how many of these r on the bay's floor. I use these myself but glue mine onto my hooks to prevent this and save $ on baits. I want to thank everyone who takes their time to pick up other people's sh-t, and u lazy anglers please use ur head and leave the bay better than u found it to enjoy this resource forever.

As a person who has fished for nearly 50 years, I have seen it all when it comes to trash. On the ice there is no hiding it (unless they shove it down the hole, which I also see). My spring trip into the bush in NW Ontario in very remote areas, which are 2-4 hours from the nearest tiny town result in the same thing. The first thing we have to do at access and camp sites is pick up other people's trash. Why would you try to get away from everyone else to the most beautiful place on earth only to trash it? For awhile it got better (maybe 5-10 years ago), but maybe that was just when the economy was crap and less people were fishing. I try not to be a judgmental person, but I have some pretty unchristian thoughts when I find trash anywhere. Oh, and it's the same everywhere I have been in the world. If you read this and it stings a little bit. Good. Be better than you have been. Same thing keeping big fish... Stop. Take a picture and let her go. Trust me, you will start to understand.

I am a cottage owner here in Quebec. on our inland lakes you cannot ice fish. At first I despised the rule but I have come to realize that the fish are under less pressure and the garbage is not piling up as I am sure it would be. Kudos to those that pick up after themselves and others.

Last Spring near Thompsons I picked up 13 pieces of a variety of plastics that were discarded in my first boat trip. Lots of wrappers, bags, bottles etc. We all need to be better.... Period!

The problem is real !!

Bring it.... take it, Find it.... pick it up !!

We all know how good Quinte is, then there will be a ton of griping when the fishing starts to stink!!
