I have been sneaking out between 4 and 5:15 most night. Usually pick up at least one walleye.
Only perch tonight.
Does the east wind have a negative influence on the pickerel bite in the winter?

Okay Guys, we'll say it first:

"Wind from the East, Fish bite the Least."

May I add the following ...

Wind from the east, fish bite the least; Wind from the west, the fish bite the best; Wind from the north, few sailors set forth; Wind from the south blows bait in their mouth.

Honestly, I don't find the east wind affects my pickerel fishing in the winter like it definitely does in the summer. And yes, 4:45 - 5:30 the only time I go out.

That 4:45-5:30 is definitely prime time but over the years I have found the biggest bite to come mid day.

Wow! We've never even tried that Dan, thanks.
