Hi Dan:

Hope you can help us out?

We recently printed out a common like the one below, think it was directly from you?

"No ice is safe out there this year."

Our Wife saw it, trusts YOU, and as a result has refused to give us a Go to hit the Hard Water.

After the decent Freeze-up over the past few days, and the next few to come, would you mind telling Good Old Linda that we should be Good To Go in Days Ahead??? (Living in the middle of downtown Rednersville, on the North Side of Prince Edward County, in a 'no current' zone.)

Apologies for the Bother, but this may be helpful for more Folks than just This Old Pharte.

Warmest regards, Wordpecker

Good morning Wordpecker,

Although I am an unknown source for you, I'll pony up some hard (water) facts for consideration. Also know that my "Minister of Internal Affairs" (as she is affectionately known) is very invested in my decision making process when it comes to hitting the ice. So I share your circumstances.

Back to some facts. A group of us went out yesterday for the end-of-day fish. We went out from north shore of big island. We were out about 1 km. Close approximation the spot... 44.15 - 77.25 We were on 9 inches (measured/legit number) of black ice. We had 4 wheelers. There were 5 other huts around us, who also had bikes. There were others scattered around further away.

It was the most, & best quality, ice I've been on all season. It was also the slowest outing in terms of fish results. Lol!

Relative to Rednersville, this is a bit east of you but, it's some info to consider. :)

Good luck.

ps.... Maybe try flowers?? ;)

:P :P :P :P :P Lol Woodpecker, I feel your pain but not really as my "Minister of Internal Affairs" is happy to have the house to herself when I go for an afternoon fish and the bed to herself when I go for a morning fish. Its always a win /win here. I stand by "No Ice is safe ice" except I will add that one can quickly determine the safeness of the ice with some basic tools(I believe you possess these). In addition to the reports given here it seems there are numerous places areas Anglers are safely fishing. Linda tell him to check the ice as he goes and make sure he has all his gear and he is good to go. Woodpecker, drop the case of beer on my front porch next time you're in town :P :P :P :P :P
