well for the first half hour practicing what I learned on the internet, which said to "lob cast" I sent the lure either to the rocks in front of me, or 2' from shore, with a birds nest in the spool, was ready to go home, grab the reciept and take it back to the store, then I just thought about how the guys did it on the Saturday morning fishing shows, snap cast, bringing the rod down with the handle pointing straight up. well well... :D off goes my lure 60 - 70 feet out and then 1/2' from the water I stop feathering and clamp my thumb down. eventually half hour later I had the magnets set to 3 and the cast control loosened up so that if I dropped the lure straight down without thumbing I would get a small mess in the spool, figured that would be loose enough, I see where the brake comes into play, at the start of the cast, depending how hard you snap, was out at the end under the bridge at zwicks park and could cast past the concrete bridge support that has the day beacon on it with my Rapala shad rap. I'm convinced now!! I just love the new baitcaster, now to catch something else on it than rock bass LOL
