Lake Ontario Smallmouth

Took the boat out to waupoos area on monday for some smallmouth action and as usual the fish didnt disappoint. In waupoos area fish there were spawn and post spawn with a few fish on nests and lots of empty nests around. Jerkbait, spinnerbaits, drop shops and tubes were all working. Headed out to the islands and saw a couple of massive schools of 20-30 fish. Very cool to see these wolf packs roaming the flats. Biggest fish on the day was just over 5 lbs and of course lost a couple on the jumps that were thick footballs. most of the fish were in less than 12'. Turk you ready?

Great report Dan!
I took my 8 year old son out on Saturday down to waupoos - landed around 35. He landed one that was just a bit under 5.
Decided to take the whole family out on Sunday for about an hour for some swimming and a little fishing - beautiful day and landed another 15.

I'm not skilled like you at finding them, but the water was so clear that I just roamed around till I spotted some in 15 feet or less, and then casted to them and just repeated that.

Thanks for the report dan! With the Thousand Island Open coming up. That’s the kind of reports I like to see. I will be spending the next month up and down the river and Lake Ontario. Come the 21st will find out if I need to buy my New York State license as well just in case of border crossing
