Hi all,

I am hoping someone might be able to provide some info on the best place to launch out of Brighton and anything I should know about fishing for salmon there?

My in-laws live in Wellington and although my boat can typically handle the run to and from the Bonnet, I am intrigued with the idea of trailering the boat for 30mins to Brighton and launching there, assuming it's a shorter/safer boat ride to and from the fish.

Thank you in advance for any info you can provide.

Cheers,
Andrew

There is a public boat launch at the end of Ontario Street in Brighton. I don't think you gain anything over Wellington though; very sheltered out of Brighton for the first bit but it is still a good hike out. If you are going to bother to trailer somewhere then I would suggest Wicklow.

Lucky you having a spot in Wellington! :D I would use that (assuming you get along with your inlaws  )

Hi there! I agree with previous post...would suggest a drive right past Brighton and launch instead at the Wicklow ramp about 20 min west. Once you launch out of Wicklow you would be able to get into deeper water and still be within a few miles of the ramp...good luck!!!

Amazing, thanks guys!

I presume this is the launch at Wicklow: 133 Lakeport Rd, Colborne, ON K0K 1S0

The other downside to Wellington is the lack of a weigh station for the GOSD as we will be picking up tickets for that.

Thanks again, any other info is appreciated as well!

Cheers!

I like your positive thinking!

I always watch the wind. The difference in distance is negligible, but it's a much smoother ride back into Wellington with a West or South West wind and a smoother ride back to Brighton in an East Wind.
