A Reason to be Careful

I know many anglers have sunglasses or regular glasses on while they are fishing as we have seen the effects of a lure pulling out of a fish's mouth and flying toward the rod in a hurry and the danger that it presents to the angler with the rod in hand.

Well, here's a story about a item many walleye anglers use and the potential of something happening, I don't think I ever thought of this possibility.

Wow Dad, that's a great story.

When we lived in Amherstburg, (s/w corner of Lake Erie), Bottom Bouncers were the main setup due to the strong current in the Detroit River. Never thought we'd hear about an incident like that, but can easily see it happening. With the 'Pointy End heading right at you, that's a pretty lethal weapon.

Never would of imagined a bottom bouncer could be lethal. Better bend those tips. Good story thanks for sharing

THAT is a Great Idea, Dan!! (Bending the Weight's Tip.)

The exterior part of the Tips are easily six inches long, so they could certainly penetrate to Heart depth.

In all the years fishing the Detroit River with huge Bouncers, not once do we recall encountering anyone doing that to their weights. We're forwarding this to ALL our old Palsl
