Hey everyone looking for some advice. I am looking at installing a onboard charger on my boat for my 2 trolling motor batteries and 1 starting battery. Only issue is my trolling batteries are in the bow of the baot and my starting battery is in the rear. What would be best a 3 bank and extend the leads to reach the starting battery or a 2 bank for the trolling batteries and a single bank charger for the starting battery. Some on board chargers say you can not extend your leads or.you void warranty.

Minn Kota 3 banks work great. As far as the warranty goes I honestly wouldn’t worry about that to much as it’s probably a 1 yr warranty anyways.

I just installed the NOCO GEN5X3. Extended the leads to my starting battery using a waterproof connection + shrink tubing. Everything works great. Much cheaper on Amazon than CT right now ($230 vs $319).

I have same set up, I used the Minn Kota 3 bank Precision charger 10amps per I believe, the 2 front batteries were within reach of the supplied cable, for stern battery i added a 12ft extension, using the wire gauge as recommend in instructions, waterproof connection and shrink tubing, its been working great even with the long extension cord at dock.

Look for a 3 bank marine grade charger that has long leads. They are commonly used in small bass and walleye boats. I use a 4 bank Sportsman Pro charger and leads are at least 15 long. BATMAN
