With an overnight ice fishing trip in a tent on the bucket list, we thought we would give it a go on the weekend. We packed everything up and headed north early Saturday morning on an adventure. The winds were howling and the snow was blowing. The lake had about 6" of slush but the argo handled it like a champ. Perfect.

We got things set up and it didn't take too long for the rainbows to cooperate and soon we had a couple in the pan for breakfast. Topped off with some mushrooms, eggs, PB &J toast and a cup of percolated coffee made for the best breakfast ever.

We put a couple more on the ice over the course of the day and headed back to the big shelter to settle in for the night. With the winds howling outside, it wasn't too bad in there with the buddy heater going.

Next morning it was still blowing and snowing but ended up with a couple more pan frys and one nice 3 lb male for our efforts.

Most fish were between 15-20 feet in the morning and moved out to 25-30 fow and came on a small jig with small minnows. Overall it was a great adventure and I can now take spending the night in the middle of a lake on the ice in a storm off the list of things to do. Or at least until I do it again.

Thanks Dan, we have it down pretty good now. Still a few little mods needed here and there but overall not too bad. Hoping to get out once more before the ice up north starts to give out. There was 20" where we were so should still be good for a bit.
