Well....
Made it to Belleville on Sat, boat in to tow and headed out for a much needed fix of fishing. The fishing was okay, we likely landed over 25 (lost count ... maybe even 30 something) and missed many others. Not much for size though, nothing over 2 lbs. None the less it was good to be on the water and nice to get some eaters!!!
Early on the pics were tearing the minnows on the jigging spoons, stingers didn't seem to help so we resorted to lead jigs. The stingers on the jigs proved to be a must. In the late afternoon they became more agressive and I switched back to the jigging spoons which they then hit much more agressively. Hopkins spoons worked best for me with a 3/4 oz brass and orange being the most productive.
I saw other guys working what looked like pimples with silver green and silver with that reddish orangish type tape with reasonable success.
Coming off the lake at dusk, with the bait bucket caked in ice and feeling that familar burning on my cheeks from a cold north wind I could hardly wait for the hard water fishing to begin. So lets hope temps drop like they are supposed to and that the wind stays down.
Come on ice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS. Thanks to Ron Skevy for some much needed help and info
