Back in Los Angeles after a great couple of days on The Bay. Fished with PsychoDad from Newmarket and a couple of buddies from Ottawa.
Spent Saturday fishing in and around a hut rented from Bayview. Got out around 8:00 a.m. and fished until 6:00 p.m. No Walleyes and only small Perch. Ice was a good 12 inches thick. Used minnows and jigs to no avail.
Weather was incredible and the hut was nice but not really necessary.
On Sunday fished in the morning east from the Deseronto Bridge. Got out a little late after a detour down to Foster's to check the ice conditions there. Skunked. Ice conditions were 6 - 8 inches and we joined lots of others. Most started to pack up upon our arrival. I guess we need to take showers in the mornings, eh?
Finished up Sunday off Point Anne Road by the ruins. Again, great ice conditions and nice weather but no luck other than several runs of small perch.
Despite our lack of success, had a great time. Beats most anything else I could have done this weekend. Thanks for all the information provided here leading up to the weekend. Hope this post helps...if only to provide information regarding what times not to fish what locations.
Looking forward to getting back up for a little "soft water" action soon.
See ya -- JRA
