How do YOU lock up your boat (trailer)



I was just wondering what effective ways people use to lock up their boat trailer when they have to leave it outside.
I've seen anything from these tongue guards at C.T. for around $40, but then if someone really wants it, they could still (with help) pick up the whole tongue and still chain it to a hitch ... and it's gone!!!!
I've also seen wheel clamps at Cabela's for about $70 US ....but they look like ,...well one good whack" and that 's the end of them.

I'd be interested (and I'm sure most people would) to know what people trust , where they can be purchased and roughly how much they cost.

I'm sure that this will in the end help a multitude of people out there.

So what works for you ????????

I guess that that's what scares me. Tons of people (incl. myself at one time) do the same and don't give it much thought. ...one snip with bolt cutters and your boat finds a new home somewhere.

Pretty hard to hack off and as far as i'm concerned one of the most secure ones out there

I remove both trailer wheels and take them with me in the boat.

I but a heavy chain through the wheel and around the frame with a heavy padlock. I also have a lock similar to the one in the reply above on my hitching/ball system.

I use the above mentioned lock plus one through the tongue. I also have 80 pounds of very unfriendly German Shepard that loves to lie beside the boat in the shade.

Other than that, I have a good insurance broker!!

i use the same as the picture above and i also use a good quality pad lock on the hitch as well

I know what I use is bit excessive but here it goes, I have purchased 3/4 inch thick hardened rebar from crawford metals, wide enough to go through both sides of my rims ( through the holes ), the frame, and suspension on both sides. I had them drill holes in both ends and then put uncutable locks on both ends. This locks the wheels in place and WILL NOT allow them to rotate. As mention above , you spend good money on any rig you try to find a way to keep it .
