I'm needing to register a boat trailer. The person that currently owns it, registered it as a home made trailer as he didn't have the original registration. It was suggested I do the same but have heard otherwise and that they've changed those loop holes at MTO.

It's of course not home made but does have a visible plate with the information and numbers embossed on it.

Anyone have any suggestions on the easiest way to do this?

Do I tell MTO that it is home made and what sort of problems could this have?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers.

I've heard many times where it is just too much BS to register an old trailer and a lot of times registering it as homemade is the easiest/cheapest way. Only thing you may want to do is remove the original tag so there is no confusion. I did a search on google and this discussion appeared concerning a similar situation as yours. hope it helps. So you bought a boat? or just the trailer? bet you're excited either way.

Thanks Maverick....I want to go the easiest route but keep hearing all different stories and ways to go. What I don't want is to get to MTO, stutter and cause myself a lot of headaches with giving too much info.

Yes, I am a happy man.

Cheers
