Given where you are coming from, I would give the nod to BOQ, simply to ensure maximum fishing time, likleihood of success and range of opportunity. I would opt for the Glenora area for larger walleye opportunity or say the east end of Hay Bay for largemouth bass. Alas.... I must work.

You did name some nice water, with predominantly bass coming to mind for most. Yes, there are also walleye, and some whitefish, northerns and even the odd deep water surprise (dwindling laker population in the one lake), but for the extra time, expence, etc...... I would go with the safe bet.

Edit- If I wanted tablefare, I would look at your choice in the Mazinaw vicinity.

The weather sounds like it has been very nice at home..... I wish you well this weekend.

Just another two cents.

i have fished both crotch and dig gull
but not in a few years
i fish the boq as often as i can
i would have to agree with the others
that the boq is probably your best bet
the fish should be comming in
from the main lake
glenora /east of ferry good for larger fish
and good lanch
i will be up on the 15 oct with bluedog
good luck

well it wasnt a productive day,we went saturday to balsam for reasons of time and the kids hockey later in the day but anyhow when we left(7am) it wasnt raining at all, soon as we launched the boat it started to rain,so we waited it our for about 30 mins, then we hit the water as it stopped but not for long, couldnt have been more than 5-7 mins when rain came back and stayed,we fished til noon and landed one bass, and we got soaked!!!
will try again soon either same place or BOQ next time

An interesting choice with Balsam.

I used to fish nearby Canal Lk. a tremendous amount in the summers while cottaging in Bolsover. The fluctuating water levels seemed to always have the visiting angler, fishing what always appeared to be classic largemouth cover..... with few fish being there. The real hogs were available on a consistent basis, but one had to learn about the water and its history with channels providing a sleeper location, that was virtually priveate to myself and a friend in our 16 ft cedar strip boat. It was always comical as the bassboat guys and gals would never pay attention to us, and would not believe how consistent I was.

I understand that northern pike are now common in Balsam and Canal, etc. This was not the case growing up, with them beginning to appear around 1990 as best as I can tell.

Thanks for posting your update. I get very curious, and enjoy getting a rough idea about many fisheries.

Regards

Well there were about 5 other boats there once rain started they all came flying in and took shelter for the 30 mins of heavy rain and thunder and lightening,I talked to just about all of them and in earlier morning they had one musky, some bass and a few walleye amongst them
