Quinte Fishing

Hi Everyone,

On Thursday Nov. 1st we seemed to have done well at Keith's Shoal and heading east from the shoal and landed 9 walleye. The largest was 9 lbs. and we kept 4 for the table in the 2-5 lb range. Most of the walleye were caught on Reef Runners with one on a Yo-Zuri and a couple on Rapala TD11's. This time out the Mann's lures did not seem to be the choice that the eyes were looking for. All of the walleyes were caught off of planer boards.



On Friday both Glen and I launched out of George St. ramp and it looked like walleye opener out there with all the boats heading out just off of Myer's Pier and and also under the Bay bridge. That night Glen landed one walleye on a Yo-Zuri and that was all that was brought into the boat. This night was a night of simply finding holes and casting into them.

This week we will probably be giving the fishing a bit of a rest since it is now deer hunting season and Glen has the next 2 weeks off hunting and I have to spend more time in the store. I might get at night since we have quite a few of our friends coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Nice haul Sam! Nothing like some fresh walleye to end a good day on the water.

Adbatt and I were out sunday for 6-7 hours and got skunked. Lots of boats out and the water was pretty much flat. Couldn't have asked for a better day except maybe a bite or two. We were even hoping a sheapshead would take the bait.

We have found that the bite has been like a roller coaster with its ups and downs. I am thinking of getting out this Thursday or Friday, I heard from Glen that he will be in to work and that will free me up for some fishing. I have a few friends coming up from the US this week and need to go out with them and have some fun. I will have the camera ready hopefully the cooler weather will bring in more of the larger walleyes.

Thx for the report Sam. Given the condition of all the launches down Picton way and considering I usually fish on my own and therefore need a location for an easy launch/retrieve, I am thinking it might be better to launch out of Belleville and go for smaller stuff. Any sign of the fish from Ontario making their way up to Belleville yet? There has been no boats in the Trent any time I pass over.

Yes the walleye have been hitting real good at Myer's Pier some nights and under the Bay bridge. Both Glen and I landed a few at Myer's Pier we were anchored just east of the buoys and casting in towards the buoys and the pier. On a Friday evening expect a lot of traffic in the at area. There are a few boats that come in at night from the George St. ramp.

Your comment on the condition of the launch ramps?
The launch at Picton harbour is one of if not the best in the region. It is very protected being right in town and very near the main action area[the picton ferry and long reach]. It is very easy to launch and retrieve any size boat....Larry
