Planer Boards and set up

Hello:

I am new to the board and am just getting into fishing for the big walleyes in Quinte. I would like to ask everyone just what models of planer boards are out there and what does everyone like and for what reasons.

I would also like to ask what other equipment will be required to use these and can someone attach a picture of the proper set up.

I am going to purchase some but want to make an informed purchase.

p.s. Just picking up the new boat in the picture tomorrow and will hopefully get it set up for the Quinte season.

Hi Bill,

Welcome to the board and to the Quinte area, hope you have a great time fishing fir walleyes in your new boat. As for planer boards you will get a mixed opinion on them and usually the ones that I seem to sell the most are the Off Shore OR12(yellow) models. They seem to be the most sought after. Once you get all your information from the members here and your research is completed feel free to drop in and I will be pleased to assist you.

I will be putting some of the boards to the test tomorrow to see if we can get some of those walleyes to take our baits.

i also use offshore board's with no problems at all.i fish erie regularly in rough condition's all the time and have no issue's with them . have tried church board's and wasn't impressed by them at all.i run 4 board's on each side of the boat with very few problem's.as eye tracker stated in the above post you can do a variety of thing's with them.

Thanks for the info guys and the compliments about the boat. I am really looking forward to getting out in it. I will look at the info you provided and hopefully get a set ob boards to use.

Yes I bought the boat on ebay. I have to admit that I feel it was a great deal. Here in Canada the price on boats is rediculous. I will be selling my 1996 1660 Pro V with a 90 HP motor in the spring.

Looking forward to getting the boat up here and set up for Quinte. I am a novice fisherman but I have 2 kids 5 and 6 that just love getting out in the boat and fishing. The lund boats are so stable it is great.
