Quinte Fishing

Hi!
It's my first post and as a newbie to the board, I wanted to thank all you regular guys for sharing your experiences at Quinte so that the rest of us might benefit from ours. I haven't fished Quinte for 2 years and it seems as though the fishing has evolved a bit over the last couple of seasons so I'm grateful for all the updates..(the launch info, water temp, depth, lure selections, colors etc. etc... )
I'm heading up to the bay this Thursday to Monday with my Crestliner Sportfish. It's a great boat...however it is powered by an I/O and I'm a little nervous since the forcast could go dip below zero.
Is anyone fishing with an I/O lately? Should I be worried? I was thinking of throwing a trouble light in the doghouse while I'm docked but there is obvious safety concerns with that as well.

Maybe you can use a magnet type automotive block heater placed the the intake just to keep it warm? or those wire wraps used for heating plumbing pipes?

I had a friend also recommend a dipstick heater but I haven't researched whether it's feasable or not.
I'm thinking it may have to get really cold and freeze up hard to do any damage. I guess the other alternative is to just stay on the water, fish hard and fire the main up once in a while!

I dont think you will have to worry for a few weeks yet.

I have an I/O and watch the temp closely. It hasn't been cold enough lately (at least for a couple days) to cause any problems witht he motor.

After we use the boat on the weekend coming, we're going to drain the motor of the water by taking out the plugs on the manifolds and the two engine plugs, and probably add some Trailer antifreeze to the water pump.

That's just in case it gets cold for three-four days....

You shouldn't have any problems with the temps the way they have been.

Hey Superdad,

Are you trailering your boat in and out everytime you fish after this weekend? ...or are you able to do the drain & fill while dock side?
