Went out for a late afternoon fish with Laker John, BayBoy and we hit the ice at 1530 and had the lines in at 1545.

We were trying a spot that had been a hot spot on Jan 6th, BUT had cooled down considerably on Jan 28th........

I tried several lures using them for 15-20 mins and then swapping, on the third swap, a Blazer (Rapala knock-off), the line tied as the lure approached the bottom and FISH ON.......

Not to exciting as I reeled up a 12-13" walleye - Well we weren't skunked......

We fished til 1900 hrs and the Laker had a perch hit, I had a couple small hits, with no hook ups. That was it - 1 walleye for 9 fishing hours.....

We saw another small fish landed a couple hundred yards away and that was all we could see.

Lots of fishers out on the ice mainly west of the ramp area.

Still a month to go - don't give up the ship

Stay Tuned
