I have had the opportunity to be involved in this area and its conservation efforts for the past 7 years. No talk.....just some small but positive action that I believe is slowly bringing this area around. There is still a long ways to go and a small amount of negative people that dwell on the past instead of trying to create something good for the future....just some thoughts.

1) fish hatchery in Springside Park- this was deemed impossible, yet is still here and seems to again be operating as of today. Great work Napanee District Rod & Gun Club
2) return of sturgeon- interesting to see the reports of this in a few different year classes
3) getting a new Lk. Ont. Manager- for all intensive purposes, this looks like it could be a good thing
4) native community- questions and questioning can be a good thing. I have had the opportunity to begin meeting some very good people from the reserve......take a look around and you may very well see a whole lot more
5) the introduction of landing nets; this has begun to happen within what was a 99.9% spear fish harvest; this is an oustanding move that needs to be supported....my hat is off to the few that have begun to do this....you are a shining example
6) communication- talks amongst user groups is important; the introduction of the Bay of Quinte steering committee....is a long overdue first step.....good job
7) pollution- this is a good thing that has taken some unusual twists; this will continue to emerge as an item to note; good work is happening in a numberof areas.

There are many, many more. Is your cup half full...or half empty? The approach you choose may make or break the regions ability to begin to garner some type of community fellowship, pride....I wish you all well.

Don., I have read all of your articles.., and to me you seem to be quite the knowledgeabe gentleman "without question". I hope your regard towards the ones living in the past does not involve myself, or as of the statement "1/2 full or half empty".. as Pertaining to myself, over the last few years..I've only just begun to pour!" If you would like some recent slaughter pictures,or updated conversation on the recent Quinte Movement of fisH>BITING PATTERNS< I am more than willing to share(just remember fellows, to state "photo by Fishnut " , to help with my fight towards the future sustainability of this much valued resource that is in grave danger.
