Was wondering if anybody played around creating different curves to spoons etc. I have this Len Thompson spoon with some nice colors to it but using it the way it is it doesn't flutter right on the fall.

I'm wanting to bend it but before I do I would like to know if you ever played with this type lure.

Or for this matter any lures that went smoothly and have a different action etc.

Thanks!!
FatPat

I have played with a few lures and suggest that in general a Len Thompson is something that you would want to be fairly sure on before bending. It is fairly heavy and fairly thick in most commonly used, but it could be doable.....just be careful. More common is using paint or tape and perhaps heating, shaving or grinding assorted parts. Sometimes adding felt or even a red plastic tab can be just the right touch for a particular water body.

Just some ideas. It can be somewhat fun in tuning lures to regional conditions.

Yah that Len thompson is pretty rigid but I managed to slightly bend it so I'll see what it does, could be the "magic flutter" now LOL.

Cheers,

i bend most of my trolling spoons for more action, but they are light, flutter spoons...

i'd give the top and bottom of the spoon just a little bend...if done at the right spot on the spoon, the bend can be very minor and produce tons more action.

good luck and have fuN!

One of the popular spoons for Quinte is the rocket. Its a great spoon to modify the bend.

Most lures are precision made and tested. One reason i never use a lure that is not a brand name. I find the best way to change the action is by a different movment or action. If you see someone catching fish and your not, they may be doing somthing different. Even a slight move can make a difference.

I have seen people reverse certain spoons by putting the treble on the other end which may change the action to your liking . I have added a tubes to some spoons like the cyclops by removing the treble , pushing the eye up through the tube & back onto the wire ring . Pick your colour !
