Just replaced my Maxxum with an Autopilot. Works even better than I expected. Here's a neat trick for those of you that have one. When trolling with the outboard, put the Autopilot in the water, constant on set @ 30 - 40% power. It'll keep the boat strait, even when heading right into the wind! When you want to turn, just set a new heading with the electric. I tried this out this morning on lake ontario off St. Catharines. Trolled 4 miles strait upwind (15-20km/h wind) with the planner boards and riggers all in, 6 lines in, didn't have to steer once! Even kept the boat heading strait with only one planner in the water. Got some funny looks from other boats with the three of us all standing in the front of the boat and "no-one" driving.
Can hardly wait to try this out next weekend at Quinte.
See ya on the water
