I am hoping that a few people from this board and elsewhere make it to the NDRGC open house at the hatchery today. It is from 1:00-3:00 PM at Springside Park in Napanee (green block building). Please support community initiatives that support the regions outdoors.

I remember last year there was a big issue as to where the fish would be stocked and ultimately the dicision was not to stock the Bay of Quinte. Do you know where they will stck this year, I am still hoping for a stocking program on BOQ.

Stocking and rearing protocal follows MNR directed guidelines.

The day that there is some type of program for BOQ will indeed be a happy one. As it stands, MNR remains reluctant to fully endorse what the community wants, let alone region desires. It is simply amazing when one looks at all the support, from various quarters. I suppose it is a good thing that I am not involved as challenge can bring forth many good things.....and always a surprise or two if needed.

.. I am aware of a gentleman that stocks the Bay from BOQ Mohawks...... and hope that the Napanee groups is allowed to at some point...without being needled half to death by the "masters of red tape". Some of this MNR senior crew should be set loose.......

Regards
Don Stokes

(Please note....I do not and am not speaking for the hatchery, nor the NDRGC; I do support it wholeheartedly)

It is a shame the MNR won't allow the Hatchery to put fish back into the BOQ. I have fished the Napanee tournament since 1990 and I had to go to the Trenton derby this year. I remember the speach at the last Napanee derby when the Napanee Rod & Gun Club president made his speach and talked with pride of their plans to start stocking BOQ. I was shocked when I heard the MNR would not allow them to put the fish where they belonged. Here's to hoping this gets resolved sooner than later.

You like myself are free to question....and repeatedly question the powers that be about some type of stocking in the BOQ. This is by no means out of the question.....the big question or comment from me is "MNR leadership so far behind they think they are ahead."

Whether it is suckers, sturgeon , bass, whitefish, etc.....there is a place for Springside Community hatchery as both a stewardship example, and as a supplement to BOQ. Regarding hatchery, pond expansion, etc.....if need be....a piece of cake.......

Don Stokes

gentlemen this is an election year and the time to strick on this issue is now.all parties want our vote and they will do alot of community interest things to get that vote.we have a great power simply by the number of people who are involved in our sport.i can't think what person would not want some type of stocking program ongoing in the boq areas.lets get in touch with the provincial politicians in this area from all parties and see what they will do to assist the concerned sportsman in this area and across the land to secure a long time stocking program in BOQ.

Hey guys, tell us more. This is the first I've heard of other fish rearing activities down there. What kind of fish are being pen-raised and where are they going to be released. Are these trout or walleye?
