I had an interesting chat with a former colleague now in a slightly different area of government, in another province. He is mid-senior management and gets what sounds like quite an interesting bonus....based on measured performance.
My question: does this exist within MNR? I had one person say something indicating this is a possibility but have no facts. If this is the case, I am curious as to how this is measured? (eg. for an area that has poaching problems, declining revenue from licence sales, visits, etc......would they qualify?).
I do not know the answer to this, but noted that there is a model of a business plan on the MNR site, that seems very questionable in terms of the ability to measure success. Perhaps someone on this or another site would have the answer to this.....Would the freedom of information act give one access to this? Please feel welcome to pass this along....I am most curious.
On a side note, I like the idea of it.....if there are measureable results, and the public is fully informed. Good management and good staff deserve all the positive recognition they can get, be it through maintenence improvements....or management. This was a very, very interesting conversation that awoke some long forgotten colleagues.
