Was out to fish on Sat AM, targeting the bay west of the old Church (have to try again in the same area as opening day) Trolled there with no results.

Trolled the Old Church Weedline - no results

Trolled at Shermans - Gobies and perch were the result. A 30" walleye was caught at Shermans before we got there, I have friends who saw the fish - 10 lbs for sure, that boat also landed 3 other keepers(under 19")

Tried the weedbed between the Launch ramp( east of Shermans) and west of Perfect Vue. Has this happened to you??? First time I tried a BRAND new Rapala Taildancer, trolled about 100 feet and had a strike, hooked the fish, and BANG the line goes limp - Darned Pike, Darn No wire leader. There goes 9 bucks.

Fished Sat evening up at the east end of Hay Bay at the flats, actually closer Hoffmans Is than the eastern part of the flats. Lots of boats, saw a couple landed. My Dad landed a pair of walleyes (17" & 12") and I landed a 12" walleye and a couple of Barbottes. Fish taken on Uzick Spinner.

Fished Sun AM, went to the buoy in front of the cement plant, the buoy has been moved closer to the cement plant. Didn't mark many fish out there. Went to Mallory Bay and trolled there, Marked a great many fish in the 30 foot depth, most in the 26-29 foot depth. Couldn't entice one to hit.

Trolled in the cove east of Thompsons Pt, met a chap who had landed one and released it (19.25") Zero results there also.

Tried Shermans again and again no results BUT fewer Gobies and Perch. On the way back to Bayview, we tried the channel behind Ram Is and my Dad hit a pike (24") on a RedSwan Gold Spoon (with a wire leader).

The results from the other campers at Bayview were mixed, some had caught some fish and others hadnot.

The water Temp was going up with the bright sun- surface was 61 degs F.

Lots of boats at the East End Flats, Ram Is and the rest scattered thru out Hay Bay. Holiday weekend fishing traffic

Darn those Pike eh. That not only hurts the pocket book, but losin the fish most of the time with no chance to fight it. I lost 2 brand new rogues in a half hour at Q4, with about 0.5 secs fightin time. I feel sorry for those guys who buy those Quantum baits, or any other that cost $20+/lure.

Sunday morning showed many walleye and baitfish from that buoy over to the shore running north from the cement plant. We had no takers but encouraging to see so many.
That was my second time out and stopped again by the o.p.p. Good to see they are out checking people as well as having the ministry on board....Larry

Just got back from Hay Bay...just in time as it started to pour about 45 minutes after we left the bay. Friday, Sat & Sun - 2 pike,1 mudcat, about 50 perch and about 50 gobies (gobies left to suntan in the transom until they were ready to go back in). THEN Monday & Tuesday -

Monday - 10 Walleyes
1 - 21"
5 - 18"
1 - 17"
3 - 12" and under
1 - largemouth about 2 pounds
1- 11" jumbo perch
3 - mudcats

Tuesday - 5 Walleyes
1 - 18 1/2 "
1 - 16"
3 - 12" and under
1 - pike about 4lbs (jumped straight up out of the livewell when I was putting in one of the walleye...almost bit my nose. Scared the crap outta me!)

They were all caught along the north shore of Hay Bay between 8 - 14 feet of water drifting and casting. Tuesday we actually had to anchor and cast as the wind and waves were quite strong. Fluorescent orange was the color of choice.
