Here's my observations and results from before the opener and what happened after the 4th of May.

Got the dock in the water on the Thusday, Boat in the water on Friday, ready for the Saturday.

Fished my Dad on Sat and we headed for the white buoy northwest of cement plant. Showed a lot fo fish there, so we fished from the Buoy towards Mallory Bay, looked like a good idea at the time, but with I've read, perhaps should have been heading over the cement plant.

We tried many lure, Big/Small/Deep/High but we couldn't attract anything.

On our way back, we met Hay Bay Larry near Ram IS, I mentioned that I had a sever back pain. Just made it to the dock and hobbled up to the camp. The burning sensation was quite bad.

Remembering a similar incident from the early 80's, I head to the Emergency at Napanee Hosp. Waves of pain. They took immediate action and gave a a shot of Morphine, Pain REALLY subsided :D

The hospital personnel were super and sent me off with drug perscriptions to ease the pain - and the pain would return.

To shorten the story and not to continue with the deatils, the stone was passed and I was back on track for Sunday.

We fished the east end of Hay Bay(Huffmans Is) area and marked some fish in the deeper water toward Pickeral Park. Three and half hours later we returned empty handed. Sunday night we fished again in front of Bayview Resort and came away skunked again.

Monday AM, head out with my wife over to Ram Is and she broke the ice, a perch was still a fish and it was the first of the year. Later we were trolling inside Ram Is and she landed a 20" pike on a Smithwick Rogue.

I heard that name mentioned a lot a the weigh-in on Sunday(according to my sources).

Monday Night I headed off to Shermans/ Thompsons looking for some fish as I heard that they appeared to have moved. BIG Storm blew up and I made it back with HUGE waves blowing from Long Reach to Ram Ism beyond there it was fairly calm.

Fished Tuesday AM with Hay Bay Larry just west of Ram Is, we marked a great many fish but we couldn't decipher what they wanted- so we came away with a goose-egg again.

Took the boat out and came home Tueday night. Reading the board this AM indicates the variance of what was taking fish on the weekend. Lures of varying sizes and Jigs - guess the Fish God was selective as tghere are other stories of no fish caught - so I don't feel too bad :D

Planer boards were favoured by many, who also had luck.

Oh well, back to the drawing board, will try to figure out another game plan we get back on the water in a couple of weeks.

Thanks to those who read this far on this extended report and to those whose words are truly appreciated when I didn't feel well.

Three of us fished Saturday out of Picton. Marked no fish off the cement plant, up to the flashing bouy. Headed towards ferry across the points. Marked nice schools just north of the Glenorra channel every pass. Finally caught one on a perch walleye diver 125' straight back- no weight, 26" 6.2 lb male. Left without another hit. Ran a board off a mast, an inline board and a downrigger. Flatline won in the end
