I know the big ones come in the spring, leave to somewhere in Lake Ontario/St.Lawrence, and come back in the fall. However, has anyone ever targeted them in the summer, in Lake Ontario or the St.Lawrence? I would love to catch a big eye at its peak strength. I know a big walleye caught in the fall/winter, is around 2-4 lbs lighter in the summer, but that would be great to hook into one of those big boys in its prime.

I know that there are a large number of big walleyes caught over in New York, around Black River, Chaumont Bay and all the way to Mexico Bay,

I would suspect that the Big Mamas leaving Quinte head that way sometime in the summer.

There was a chap who used to down-rigger near the Main Duck ISlands and get BIG walleyes, 100' down in the summer.

That's what I think. I have heard Dave CHatterton mention that he think the big walleyes come back from the Niagara River area, don't know what he based that on.

Looks like they get around Lake Ontario.

Some big eyes have been hooked around the bonnet out of Wellington but they rarely land them, seems salmon fishers get buck feaver at the sight of a huge eye and loose them at the boat. Take them home and eat em, they won't survive being hauled out of deep water.
