I'm sitting here wondering what to do ?? Should I load up the boat and head out or put it away tomorrow ?? My only concern is the wind and the ice at the launch ramps... They're calling for -16 in the morning for Picton area and -7 for the day with the wind chill.. The winds are supposed to kick up to 30 kms...

I've got a 16' SmokerCraft with a 50 hp... Would you go if you had the chance ???

It's all about adventure, dude.

Have a look at the Weather Network forecast for Picton, and the Environment Canada forecast. Both are calling for northeast winds tomorrow. It's been my experience that when the wind has an east component, you might as well stay home. However it really depends on where "home" is for you, and how much you are prepared to gamble. Important: Read my link at the top of this post and ask yourself, "how badly do I want to do this?"

I can't imagine that you couldn't get your boat in the water at either McFarland's Conservation Area, Glenora Marine, or the ramp on the NE side of the Glenora Ferry. While the fishing can be spotty when the wind is from the NE, it can still be awesome this time of year! "Spotty" could mean you only catch four or five ten- to twelve-pounders, instead of twenty. Do not fear the cold weather - that is more or less irrelevant. Dress warmly [that's an understatement!]

Voice of Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry: "Do ya feel lucky? Huh? Do ya, punk?"

Go for it. Shut up and fish. You'll be sorry if you don't at least try. Would I be there if I were available? With bells on, mate.
