Gentlemen

I my self not being a regular fishermen on the Bay, I found that the information that was given to me by the regulars on this board , led me to my biggest walleye to date , not big by the Quinte standards (6.4lbs) but my personal best. If wern't for people like Ken & Jo and Superdad this fish would still be a dream , I applude these people and there commitment to promting the fishery in the Quinte area And CATCH & PHOTO &RELEASE!! During the very late fall fishing these people put me on the fish the three times I made the trip down from Ottawa . My goal is to get into the double digits in 2004  , and to do this the board becomes all that more important . Captain Hank some people like to see people catch big fish , I don't see how sharing info on a free site could possibly give financially gains to these people , I think they are just excited about a great fishery and love to share their experances and knowledge of the area If you check out other sites like Fish-hawk.net they promote the fishery in the Ottawa area , telling where to find late fall Muskie what bait to use .....ect the same as this board ... for no financial gain , just the love of the great fishery we have and love to see new poeple experance it! Why people think because some people are helpful that they must be making money off it , well it is narrow minded
In closing, Gentle men please accept this board for what it is a place to exchange storys and information. If you do not agree with the purpose of this board , feel free not to read it , as for me this a great site loaded with great info and storys ......KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.....my 2cents worth

Gentlemen,

Wow!!! I think they you took my post completely in the wrong direction (roughrider and kking). My previous post was not intended to shed Superdad and Dan Elliot in a negative manner. I appreciate their dedication to the site. As for sharing specific fishing information, I always share with my close, personal friends.

My question in the last post was simply why do Superdad and Dan Elliot promote the BOQ? I mean, what personal interest do they have for doing so? That's all. I wait patiently for a response.

Capt Hank,

Of course I do. All of the companies who names you see on this site are paid advertising. At the top right of every page on the site, the words "Advertise Here" appear. The rates are actually pretty cheap you may want to consider it if you guide or charter at all.
Dan

Well Capt Hank, I get a GREAT deal of satisfaction from replies that I receive from fishers who have read my posts and who have been able to catch fish in Quinte (Hay Bay / Shermans / Thompsons / Mallory Bay / Picton Bay / Long Reach - places where I frequent).

Yes I make some lures, give some away and sell some. I won't be retiring to the comfort of Hay Bay with the amount of revenue they bring, I just hope to break even.

I am following in the footsteps of John Uzick from PA., who enjoys seeing people catch fish and who introduced me to this fishing creation approx 17 yrs ago.

I think the comments from Capt'n hank explains it all. He shares his fishing tips with his personal friends. If your not one of them your SOL. This shows you why we appreciate Dan and Superdad. I guess everyone who reads this board can be considered their personal friends. Opinions are always free and always offered by one and all. It the cost of having one and giving it when not asked in a negative way that costs the most. Sorry but I feel since this boards inception, I did nothing but gain from the experience of others. To this end everyone I'm sure is greatful ffor this.

i am not a regular visiter to this site.up until a year or so i was a participating member.i asked only for accomadation info and granted there are ads on the top of the page i agree but i was hoping for feed back from local residents as to which is better.the fishing i was going to go out with a guide so that info was unimportant to me but a member i believe it is walleye mux i think is this persons handle tore a strip of me for that.and for that reason alone i do not frequent this board.i did however come down and fish your area but i refused to ask for info because of this persons ignorance

Funny, I met Walleye-Mux at the weekend get together (Merlands)and he is a great guy! Mux was probably just having fun, and if he sees this post I am sure he will respond! Loosen up a bit, this board is worth hanging around.

I would like to share some insight on this board. I just started reading this board this year. I am from Pennsylvania and myself and four others have been making an annual trip to Hay Bay for the past 12 years. We come up here because of the quality of fishing (although it has fallen off in recent years). We used to stop in local bait shops and get input on the fishing in the area, talk to locals out on the ice etc..... This board really helps us, since we are so far away, in preparing for our trip. My buddy has posted here and received positive feedback and we are grateful for that. This is the only board I will read and post on, thanks guys for being honest and supportive. :D

Just have to get my 2 cents in on this one. I am what you might call a seasonal visitor to this site. As I generally only fish the area in the fall. I do contribute to the board any way I can which usually means posting reports on successes and or failures of my trips :!:

People like Superdad and many others have been extremely freindly and forthcoming with all sorts of helpful tips and info. I'm sure there are plenty on this board who like to read and gleam all the info they can from here and then sit back and don't contribute. They have the idea in their heads that they "don't want to give away the good spots".

 The success of this board relies on reciprocating with the info once in awhile. So don't be shy gang!

Why some people would ask "Why would you put out the effort to run the site?", I can only guess. They are truly generous individuals. What a sorry world if we all only did things because we got some benefit out of it!!!

My thanks to Dan and whoever helps him for maintaining this great site. To fellow fishermen like Superdad, and all others for the tips and the help. The one or two trips I usually make down are no doubt successful because of your help.

 As a new member, only a couple of days ago,and as a Pro Guide on the B.O.Q.,there are no secret hot spots, that's just a myth,or some fishing map, with so-called hot spots marked on them,I've been looking after 7 huts this year for a fellow out of the Bayside area, which is just east of Trenton, actual spot,is 3 to 4 hundred feet ,north of the LIGHTHOUSE at Bayside narrows,as the ice as become to slushy in manys spots,on our trails to the huts,we have seized operation for the rest of the season, there is still safe ice where the huts are located, but getting customers there in a safe manner is no longer an option, some nice EYES were caught there, also the odd Whitefish, try using a two-way spredder, about 5 to 6 Ft. off the bottom for the Whitefish,as far as the other subject, about giving away your so called hot spots,it's like I have always said, thats the difference between American (tournament)fisherman and Canadian (tournament) fisherman, the Americans, share there spots, knowlegde, and respect each others so called, morning of the tourny first spot,Canadians ,on the other hand,if you don't have a faster boat,or take a hair raising chance going where your not supposed to even take a canoe, you go to spot #2 or 3,isn't that a true story DAN?......THANKS.....ROCKET....
