We're coming out for the hay bay derby May1, and would also like to do some rainbow trout fishing. Are there any streams nearby that offer this? Cheers all

Coming from Toronto?

The Ganny (Port Hope) and Cobourg are about 1 hour from Napanee.

I have heard that the Moira and Salmon have some but I have never fished them. Maybe someone on the board can provided some info on these two.

Cheers,

Mike

Shelter Valley Creek which is just east of Port Hope and accessible off highway 401 had great Rainbow fishing a few years ago. Haven't been there in sometime however. Caught my biggest Bow in there about 10-12 years ago....13lber.....

There are camp sites to rent and all, at least there were.

Anyone else been in more recent years?

Last year, on our way to Quinte for the opener, we stopped by the dam on the Ganny, and man, huge bows everywhere, I'm talkin 15lbs+. Unfortunately, or fortunately, depending how you look at it, you cannot fish there, but you can fish up river there. Can't remember the exit we took. I remember it was around 45 mins before we got to the bay off the 401.

Port Hope (Ganny) is exit 464 on the 401....Cobourg is 474.
