Just discovered this board. Great information!

I've got a cottage booked at Pickerel Park in mid-August and am looking for some hints on where and when to fish what to use etc. Last time I was there was in May of '99 with a couple buddies and learned at the end of our trip that we were going about it the wrong way by using jigs in the daytime for pickerel. On our last night we were told to fish the shoreline after dusk with body baits and we faired a little better. However this time I'll have my kids with me so late night fishing may be out of the question. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I hope this is the first of many trips to come.

At that time of the year alot of the folks troll worm harnesses along weededges. Casting cranks to weededges is also a staple for summer eyes. Check the posts from last year August. Good Luck

Hey Hg welcome aboard :!: Best tip I can give you on location since you're not going until August, watch this board more frequently. Some great posters here who know the waters well, like Superdad, Ken of ken & Jo fame, Haybay Larry etc :!:

They're always offering up sound tips and advice:!:

Goodluck :!:

Where you are staying, go right out in front across from the park. About middle from the other side. Flat line using spinners and worms. Should be guaranted to get shore lunch. I cottage at the end of the bay and if I want fish, then that's where you'll find them.

Thanks to all for your replies (meant to do that long ago) I am off to Pickerel Park this a.m. and can't wait. The advice from all of you is much appreciated and I hope to put it to good use. I am hoping the store at Pickerel Park sells some of those famous Uzick spinners. I will post results when I return.
