The freshwater drum or sheepshead populations some of you wonder about are without question a result of changing environmental conditions.
Of these, greater food supplies, particularly zebra mussels, (if one had to put their finger on it) would most likely be the culprit, unless you like catching sheepshead, in which case there is no culprit at all--- just some temporary fun and relief while waiting for dwindling walleye stocks to ascend the bay.
Try eating one---firm white flesh--- they,re quite good deepfried in small cubes and as a main ingredient in fish chowder.
