It was good that you have finally been heard from recently in the context of the Bay of Quinte talks. I have been wondering myself about what was happening regarding the recommendations and the proposed group that was supposed to be organized "with MNR assistance". It is on the whole a good idea.... execution of this repeated directiion has been slow with a poor followup on MNR part. Your timing was good.
From my vantage point, this looks like it is par for the course of the current leadership (Peterborough, not the local research station at Glenora). You will continue to have little in the way of any relationship that can be desireable to collective regional community interests until your Lake Ont. manager either gets an attitude adjustment (Gerry O. tells her to begin to do a job and not avoid making descions) or you have a replacement.
Do not let this slip, given that this could very well begin to set up the nec. conditions for some bad stuff. What is needed is more emphasis on the resource and less on the financial aspects. However much this might seem "hoakey", it is very important in the big picture in relation to relations with all user groups. I hope that you develop more dialog with MBQ as both them and the regional community surrounding them have a substantial amount at stake that does not need to be bungled by MNR. The efforts by various groups and people in your area have the potential for some great things..... what they need is some great inspired leadership to show them how. Good luck. I watch and wait and am helpful in areas.
Regarding Gerry O., I am so far pleased. He has shown bonafide interest with no doubt more good things to come now that he has had the chance to acclimatize to this political field. I would like him to continue to serve if at all possible following the next election.
